Weekend Events Guide: May 1st Edition

With some beautiful warm weather on the horizon, get out there and and enjoy it! There’s lots to do in and around Garden City this weekend.

Hurry! Long Island Restaurant Week comes to a close on May 3. Enjoy a special 3 course Restaurant Week menu for only $27.95! Participating GC restaurants include Revel, Novita, Polo Steakhouse, Spuntino Wine Bar & Italian Tapas, Tocolo Cantina, Waterzooi and Havana Central. Enjoy!


The Long Island Marathon comes to Eisenhower Park this weekend!
Friday– Visit the Sports and Fitness Expo at Mitchel Athletic Complex from 3pm-8pm. 
Saturday– Catch the 1 mile run, the 5K race, the Sports & Fitness Expo and the Kids Fun Run. 
Sunday– The Marathon, the Half Marathon and the 10 Race take place at 8am. Enjoy the Finish Line Festival in Eisenhower Park from 9am-2pm. Click here for more details.  


Saturday- “Let All the Children Play in May” takes place in Eisenhower Park. 11am-2pm. Click here for details. 

Saturday- Free craft at the Lakeshore Learning Store. Make a different craft each week. Cost: Free. 11am-3pm. Click here for store website. 

Saturday- Hofstra University will hold their 8th Annual Outdoor Music Fest. Enjoy live musical performances, food and more. This event will raise money for the Long Island Chapter of the American Red Cross. 

Saturday- Jay and the Americans perform such hits as Cara Mia, This Magic Moment and Come a Little Bit Closer in their show “Pop, Rock & Doo Wopp Live” at the Tilles Center. Click here for details and ticket information. 

Saturday- Celebrate Cinco De Mayo a little bit early this year in the Biergarten-Cantina at Plattduetsche Park. Enjoy live mariachi music and food by Gonzo’s Mexican Grill. 1132 Hempstead Tpke., Franklin Square. 5pm-10pm. $10

Saturday and Sunday- Long Island Children’s Museum presents Pirate School: The Science of Pirates. $5 with museum admission. Click here to learn more. Ages 7+. Shows at 11:30am and 2pm on both days. 

Sunday- Adelphi’s Percussion Ensemble performs newly composed works on Westermann Stage in Concert Hall. 4pm. Cost: Free.
